Trip to Germany

A trip to Germany to visit Berlin

Germany has had its ups and downs in its history but it is still a beautiful place to visit. Berlin is a very populated city in Germany. It has over 3 million people and is the most populated city in Germany. One of the reasons I wanted to go to Berlin is really because of the night life there. It is different than the U.S.A because of the customs in Germany, which interest's me the most. Nothing is better than having night on the town with a few friends to have a good time. This also focuses on the music in Berlin, which is largely based on Punk and Techno. Since the late 90's, Berlin has been more focused on techno clubs than Punk venues though, because of the change in fad's. As many know the Berlin Wall was taken down not that long ago in 1989. After this the infrastructure began to boost as buildings in Berlin started to turn into clubs and Music Venues which was all help to re-establish the income in Berlin since the wall had been taken down. The venue SO36 was a large supporter of punk music and is still a club today but focuses on other types of music as well. The club SOUND was known for its large amount of Heroin and drug use back in the 70's, as noted in Christiane F.'s literature.
Berlin Is also known for being the site of the Berlin Wall. During the 1940's the Berlin Wall was built to divide the city into two parts, east and west. East Germany was controlled by a communist government, while the west part of Germany was capitalist. The Berlin wall was destroyed on November 9th, 1989. This is a reason i wanted to come to Berlin, so I could be able to stand in the exact same place the wall was located, and see how far we have come in society. I hate the feeling of being barred off from society, and this shows how Germany over came that. My Trip will come to a end here as I will be traveling back to Denver to finally go home.

Trip To Bratislava

I am going to Bratislava In slovakia to get a glimpse of what it is like.

After my trip to Australia I wanted to see more of Europe. So I have decided to go to Slovakia to visit Bratislava. I wanted to visit Bratislava because of the architecture in this area. I love the way the buildings are set up in this area, it's a very homelike feeling.
The first place I am visiting in Bratislava is Bratislava Castle. This castle has four towers on it, one on each corner. This area has been inhabited for thousands of years, going far back as 3500 B.C. The castle was used to make settlements in Europe. The castle was destroyed in the late 18th century in warfare but rebuilt in the 1950's to serve as a tourist attraction. The restoration was interrupted by issues within the country, and was not totally finished. Last year (2008) they started a massive restoration of Bratislava Castle and say it will take 5 years and could cost up to 62 million Euros.
The next place in Bratislava I want to visit is Old Town, Bratislava. This town is where most of the medieval architecture is located like old cathedrals and other beautiful buildings. The main place I wanted to see was St. Martin's Cathedral. Although this is just a cathedral and may not seem special in anyway, it is. Underneath the cathedral is a old cemetery that was used in Bratislava. Down in the underground catacombs they have graves of many famous slovakians like St. Stephen and other people of great importance. Now the cathedral is in danger of being destroyed as it has deteriorated and might fall from the vibration of the close by highway ramp. Another interesting fact is that reportedly Beethoven played his song Missa Solemnis for the first time in St. Martin's Cathedral. The next place I will be visiting is Berlin in Germany.

Trip To Australia

A trip to Australia to see whats so good about it

Now that my trip in South America is done I am visiting Australia to go to Queensland. Queensland is a territory on the eastern border of Australia. My reason for coming here is all of the wilderness in this continent, especially Queensland. One place to visit in Queensland is Australia's Bicentennial National Trail. This trail is 5330 Km long and is surrounded by lots of wildlife and scenery. This trail also goes through the mountainous areas of Queensland, making it perfect for what i want to see.
The other place I want to visit in Australia is The Town of 1770. This place intrigued me because it sort of cuts to the chase, this is obviously a town founded in 1770. This town is known now for the Golf Course's it has and all the diving tours but that is not the reason i came here. The main reason i came to this town is for the sunset. I know it isn't the only place in the world to see the sun go under the horizon, but this was close to me, and it has a very nice beach. Located on this beach is one of the oldest lighthouses. This light house was first used in the 1860's, and is still in good condition today. I like seeing historic things even though it's something not so extravagant. My next trip will be to Slovakia to visit Bratislava.

Trip to South America

My trip to South America to visit Venezuela

South America is a very beautiful place from what I hear. Where I will be visiting is a place known as Venezuela, which is a tropical place on the north side of South America. One reason I wanted to go to Venezuela is for Angel Falls, the highest free falling waterfall in the world. The native name given to this waterfall by the Pemon Indian tribe was Aiyan-tepui, which means Devils Mountain. These falls are over 2000 feet high and are a amazing site to see. James Crawford found this place when he landed his plane on the top of them in the 1930's.
Another place I wanted to see in Venezuela is Sierra de Perija National Park. I always have liked walking through parks and enjoying the world for what it's worth. This national park has a lot of wildlife, a lot of stuff you would expect to see in South America. The mammals that can be seen are animals like Opossums, Anteaters, Sloths and other kinds of animals like bats and a variety of birds. This national park is like the rest, but with the wildlife of the region. My travels will continue when i travel to Australia.

Trip To Asia

My trip to Burma to visit many of the temples in Burma

Now that I have left Egypt, I will be leaving to Asia to visit Burma (Formerly known as Myanmar). In Burma I will visit the city of Bagan, to see some of the temples that have been built in its history. One of the temples in the Burma is the The Temple of Dhammayangyi. This temple is weird in this region because of the two of the historical cities in South East Asia, Bagan in Burma, and Agnkor in Cambodia, the ruins of these peoples temples and such, are in broad daylight, with no trees in sight. This is Burma for you though. From the top of the temple it seems that all you could see is miles of country side. You could also see the abundance of other temples in the scenery. This temple although has a lot of history behind it. In the early 12th century it was built by the men of the new king at the time, King Narathu. He became king after he murdered his father to gain the throne. After he did this he demanded the people to build this temple. Completion of this temple never happened though because of the assassination to the king before the finishing of the temple. This temple has many hidden hallways that lead to the upper terrace, it is too bad that these places are off limits to visitors now.
The next place in Burma that I am visiting is another temple, this temple is The Shwezigon Temple. This temple was built in the 11th century and is still around today. This temple is one of the more notable temples of religion in Burma. This temple was constructed in the late 11th century by King Kyanzittha. This king was known for making this area in particular known as the city of four million pagodas since they have so many religious shrines in Burma. Kyanzittha was known in Burma as a king who put up many statues and monuments. This temple has had repairs many times in its history. The most recent time it was 1983 and 1984 when they put copper plating on the outside, which was donated by tourists and others. The next place I will be visiting after my trip in Burma is going to be South America to visit Venezuela.
